Původně byl motorový vůz postaven jako ET 91 nebo také jako elT 1998 (a druhý elT 1999) v roce 1935 (elT 1999 byl postaven v roce 1936) ve Waggonfabrik Fuchs v Heidelbergu a byl uveden do provozu u Deutsche Reichsbahn. Existoval i druhý vůz této konstrukce, ale ten byl zničen během druhé světové války v roce 1943. Lokomotiva elT1998, později 491 001, byla během druhé světové války bezpečně uložena v lokomotivní boudičce v Bad Tölz. Vagony byly zakoupeny pro panoramatické výlety do Alp a byly umístěny v depu mnichovského nádraží. Vůz je 20 metrů dlouhý, nabízí 72 míst k sezení a jede rychlostí 120 km/h. V průběhu času dostal vůz několik barevných provedení, a to nejen bílo-modré, ale také bílo-červené. Dne 12. prosince 1995 byl skleněný vlak 491 001 těžce poškozen při vlakové nehodě v Garmisch-Partenkirchenu. Od roku 2005 se 491 001 nachází v Augsburském železničním parku.

Air intake openings for ventilation and horns on the roof. 1 double-arm pantograph and 1 single-arm pantograph, each with double contact strips. Powered rail car road number 491 001-4. The car looks as it did around 1986.

The car has a digital decoder and extensive sound functions. A welcoming announcement from the period as well as a list of destinations, an additional note for the passengers, and the end station (train announcement) can be activated by means of the function buttons. The car also has controlled high-efficiency propulsion. 2 axles in one truck powered. Traction tires. The car has built-in interior details. The car comes from the factory with a driver and numerous passengers. The car has factory-installed interior lighting. The triple headlights and dual red marker lights change over with the direction of travel, will work in conventional operation, and can be controlled digitally. Maintenance-free, warm white and red LEDs are used for the lighting. The interior lighting can be dimmed as a digital auxiliary function. The trucks have different wheelbases like the prototype. The panorama windows are inset. The car has air intakes for ventilation and horns on the roof. This car is the version with 1 double-arm pantograph and 1 single-arm pantograph, each with double contact strips. Length over the buffers 23.7 cm / 9-5/16".

Factory-installed interior lighting. Driver and numerous passengers installed in the car at the factory. Imprinted train route sign included, "Reisen und Schauen mit dem Gläsernen Zug" / "Travel and Look with the Glass Train".

TRIX

Founded in Nuremberg, Germany, Trix was best know for its metal construction sets until 1935, when it unveiled its ground-breaking 1/87 Trix Express train set, which allowed independent control of two trains at once. In the late 1960s, the Minitrix line of N Scale models was introduced, which included American equipment. Acquired by Marklin in 2007, Trix produces a wide range of two-rail, DC powered models of European prototypes in HO and N Scales, as well as structures, track, tools and other items.
