Ferrari se dlouhodobě řadí k nejziskovějším automobilkám světa, přesto si umí zachovat stále i velkou část exkluzivity. Nedělá například dnes tak moderní SUV. Místo nich totiž často sází na speciální modely v limitovaném množství. Mezi takové se řadí i modely Monza SP1 (tyrkysový vůz) a Monza SP2 (černý automobil). Jedná se o designovou poctu automobilům s karoserií typu barchetta, slavící úspěch především v 50. letech. Samotné Ferrari jich dělalo několik, první v roce 1948. Šlo o model 166 MM, který následně vyhrál závody Mille Miglia i 24 hodin Le Mans. Nástupnické modely 750 Monza nebo 860 Monza pro změnu inspirovaly jméno novinky.

A v čem je vlastně karoserie tak specifická? Podobně jako spider má barchetta dvě místa k sezení, na rozdíl od spideru ale postrádá nejen přední sklo, ale i jakoukoliv ochranu před nepřízní počasí. Vzduch usměrňuje jen skutečně minimalistický deflektor. Zakrýt jde nicméně sedadlo spolujezdce. Takovou výbavou disponuje alespoň Monza SP2, verze SP1 ani sedadlo pro spolujezdce nemá.

The new Ferrari Monza SP1 and SP2 have been unveiled on occasion of the company’s Capital Market’s Day at the factory in Maranello. These limited-edition special-series cars are the first in a new segment called ‘Icona’ and draw inspiration from the most evocative Ferraris of the 1950s and feature the most advanced sports car technology available today.

Aimed at dedicated clients and collectors, the Monza SP1 and SP2 reference the iconic Ferrari racing barchettas of the past, not least the 1948 166 MM, which originally inspired the name ‘barchetta’, and the 750 Monza and 860 Monza. Designed with the sole aim of winning, these uncompromising models helped build the Ferrari legend in the 1950s by delivering numerous victories in the World Sports Car Championship.

Ferrari Monza SP1 and SP2 are the first of the new ‘Icona’ series drawing their inspiration from the most evocative Ferraris of the 1950s and featuring the most advanced automotive technology available today.

The Ferrari Monza SP1 and SP2 were designed as an uncompromising single-seat road car that offers a truly unique experience behind the wheel. It features a unique design, the best weight-to-power ratio of any barchetta, thanks to the extensive use of carbon-fibre in construction, and distinctive details, such as head-and tail-lights, wheels and interior, which further enhance the cars’ exclusivity. Equipped with the most powerful engine Maranello has ever built, a 810 cv V12, they can sprint from 0-100 km/h in 2.9 seconds and 0-200 km/h in 7.9 seconds.

The SP1 is a single-seater while the SP2 does away with the tonneau cover to allow for a passenger seat to be fitted. The bodywork is made form carbon fibre and completely unique to each model, while the lack of roof or windscreen has allowed for more daring proportions, says Ferrari. The narrow doors open upwards and the one-piece bonnet is hinged at the front in a nod to the Barchetta racers. To help with aerodynamics and driver comfort Ferrari has developed a ‘Virtual Wind Shield’, which sits ahead of the steering wheel and manipulates air flow around those inside.

Under the skin both models are based on the 812 Superfast and therefore powered by Ferrari’s most potent V12 engine. The 6.5-litre unit develops 789bhp and 714Nm of torque allowing for a claimed 0-62mph time of 2.9 seconds. Top speed is said to be upwards of 184mph.
